Martina Mongiardino is a girl with a thousand resources: an architect who graduated with top marks, she is the multiple freediving champion who holds several Italian and world records. Despite not being a professional, Martina has become one of the strongest women in this sport in just a few years. Few can keep up with her in what she calls her "natural environment", where she moves with power, grace and elegance. Harmonious both inside and outside the water, when asked what freediving means to her she replies “it means challenging myself, it helped me to get to know myself better, to explore my mind”. Martina has won several Juniores titles both in Europe and the world and has already achieved important goals even in the highest category, winning two Scratch World Cups and finishing second at the Olympic Games in the same speciality, all this in 2019. CARLO CIABATTI

“I approached water sports at the age of 5, thanks to my dad who was a windsurfing and sailing champion. I also started with sailing boats and then moved on to windsurfing which gave me and still gives me a lot of adrenaline. When I won my first world title at 17, I realised that this was my path. From that moment on, I began devoting my entire life to this sport, pursuing the greatest dream of every sportsman, to participate in the Olympics. When I am not training I like being in contact with nature and obviously, being linked to the sea, I practise surfing and also all other board sports (skate, longboard & snowboard). Lately, I've been dedicating myself to surf foil (a board with a special fin capable of flying over water!) which gives me indescribable emotions."

FILIPPO COLOMBO

Filippo's passion for cycling was born “thanks to my mother and uncle who transmitted their enthusiasm for this discipline to me”. At the time, there were no MTB clubs in Ticino, so up to the Under 15s he participated in mixed races, both on the road and with MTB. "At 15, having moved into the rookie category (15-16 years), it was clear to me that mountain biking was definitely my favourite." One of the satisfactions that he remembers fondly is the podium achieved at the World Championships in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), immediately after the final exams, when he felt the certainty of wanting to win again. In 2019, he won the title of best Ticino sportsman: "an honour I am very proud of and I thank my country and the canton where I live". Today, in the Men's Elite category, Filippo races for the Absolute Absalon Team, but marred by the Covid19 epidemic, the first months of 2020 led to the cancellation of many competitions in the sports calendar and postponed, for at least a year, his great Olympic dream.

    SCI CLUB 18

In 1930, eighteen friends, all belonging to the university section of the Italian Alpine Club (SUCAI), determined to learn the latest downhill techniques, attended a course at the Hannes Schneider school in St. Anton am Arlberg, the most famous of the epoch. The enthusiasm was such that on their return they decided to found a club of university skiers. Thus, in a pub in Rome, the Sci Club 18 was founded, whose purpose was the promotion of skiing and sport in general and the moral elevation of youth. The Sci Club 18 is now based in Cortina d'Ampezzo, it's not just alpine skiing! The legendary off-piste sci18, the construction of the Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 completed in 2008, organising the Freeride Challenge Punta Nera since 2011, ski-sailing, cross-country skiing, golf and much more. Not least is the commitment to the Ampezzo community and the continuous initiatives of solidarity. The Sci Club 18 is ready to face new challenges as a protagonist, with the utmost respect for tradition and the founding principles that inspired 18 young university students back in 1930.
